I was having a conversation with my sister the other day, and she brought up a movie titled The Cove. Here's the quick run-down as to what the movie is about, courtesy to
iMDb.com:
Using state-of-the-art equipment, a group of activists, led by renowned dolphin trainer Ric O'Barry, infiltrate a cove near Taijii, Japan to expose both a shocking instance of animal abuse and a serious threat to human health. The internet is plastered with multitudes of animal cruelty videos, ranging from soldiers throwing calves off cliffs in the war-ridden countries to news headlines describing heartless occurrences where teenagers could bring themselves to place a defenseless kitten into a microwave oven. I know animal cruelty isn't new, when I was in primary school, there were signs placed on the power poles near my house spreading awareness of a mentally ill man who was strangling cats with plastic bags.
There was also that recent story about a girl in China who wanted to make it big as an actress or advertising girl and some big time loser boss hired her for a job where she is required to either step on top of a piece of glass with some objects between the glass and the floor. It started out with fruits and balloons and inanimate objects like that, and then eventually it expanded out to living things like fish and lobsters... and eventually the ultimate one that really got her in trouble was the bunny one. Messed up.
But yeah, in a nutshell, it just annoys me when people think animal cruelty is a joke, or entertainment. Or they just casually comment on how they'd kill an animal... just because they're annoying or whatever. Animal cruelty just makes me cry.
