bad parenting

I was on the way home from the city today after a cosy drinks session with some of my friends, when a group of teenagers about a few years shy of 16 approached me on the train and sat down next to me. Mind you, this was at around 12am in the morning... which would have been waaay past my bed time when I was that age. Not to mention this one girl who was completely off her face... who proceeded to drunk-mumble her way throughout the train ride back to strathfield. Hahaha... I'm not personally attacking these kids because they're already drinking/smoking at the age of 13/14... I'm just stating that that's not the conventional way teenagers are raised these days (or are they?).

I just can't believe the amount of shit these kids are already going through. Running from cops at a public park, lugging their beers and bottles of vodka and passion pops, being physically abused because they'd dropped a bottle of whiskey, going through hell when the contents of your stomach involuntarily makes it's way back up, buying cigarettes off randoms for $1 each --- almost twice the price they should be...

All the things i've listed above, I hadn't done until I was about 17 - 18. And even then, I'd still make (what I perceive as) a moral judgment on what I want, and which of those I shouldn't have. I keep my conscience clear, and I'm fortunate enough to have friends that don't forsake me on the odd days that I do make a wrong decision.

But back to what I wanted to say... children are just growing up too fast. 13 year olds drinking and smoking, scantily clad in provocative clothing. Why are they so keen to ditch childhood and skip to being 18 or 21 or whatever the fuck they said I was.

Yeah I hung out with them for a bit because I didn't have much to do, and the epiphany just gradually dawned on me when these kids started ripping out cigarettes and the whole trash thing. It was actually quite interesting... but like yeah.

Well one thing I know for sure, is that I hope my kids don't turn out like that. I'm not one to restrict and forbid, because theoretically... or to my beliefs, too much protection will equate to more rebellion in the later stages. JUST wow.

Anyways, was trying to look for bad parenting photos on google but stumbled across this instead! Hahaha so bloody cute :) I just wanna cuddles it. <3 omnomnom lobster baby!
